Hi birders,

As Peter Ewin rightly points out, the natural range of the Australian (Mallee) Ringneck in NSW is east to Bonshaw, Delungra,Lake Goran, Dunedoo, Wellington, beyond Parkes, Cowra, Grenfell, Temora, Rand & Howlong. However they are often found as aviary escapees in coastal urban areas. Over the years a number of Mallee Ringnecks have been seen on the Central Coast particularly around Rumbalara Reserve near Gosford. Therefore the observation of Neil Broekhuizen of one at McMasters Beach on 15/2/04 is unusual but not unexpected. Good spotting Neil!
