More Digital Camera comments for birders

On my EOS 300D I use an old Sigma 400/f5.6 APO, corresponding to 640mm after the DSLR cropping factor. Because the chip in this old lens cannot be upgraded I can use any f-stop I choose as long as it is 5.6 :) but I'm usually looking for as much light as possible anyway so haven't really missed it as yet. For $380 on ebay I can't complain.

I wouldn't want to try with anything much shorter, but my ideal lens (a Canon 600/f4 IS with the option of a 1.4x teleconverter) has a RRP $16,567.40 on www.dirtcheapcameras.com.au so I'll be waiting for a while!
