Hi Bob and All,

Thank you for sharing your experience on this matter. Being an invalid
pensioner with fairly shallow pockets, I will have to stick with my Olympus
C740 plus TCON-17 for the time being.

I agree with all your comments on this camera series, including the shutter
lag. For this reason, I have set up the 'My Mode' option to sequential
shooting, so that as long as the shutter is held down it keeps taking shots.
Usually I get one good one out of the 10 or so. I have not suffered from the
viewfinder lock-up you mentioned, so maybe this has been fixed in the c740
onwards models.

The C740 also has a 'Bracket shoot' mode which takes 3 or 5 shots each with
a slightly different exposure value which can help in getting a good shot
under some conditions.

Although it is not weatherproof, you can obtain an underwater housing now
which allows use of zoom (but not the teleconverter) in any weather
conditions, however I do not have one so can not comment on how easy it is
to handle the camera with it in place.

Best regards - Mike
