I have seen a few Oriental Cuckoos in OZ both standard and hepatic. On the Ashmore Reef trip of 2001 in October, we observed a few juvenile Orientals on Ashmore Reef, West Islet. I was amazed at how dark these birds were - almost black - and with heavy barring on the breast! Mike C. would you like to comment. Cheers - Paul W.
