Hi all,
Birding at The Briars, Mt Martha, southern Vic is always very rewarding
however spring birding is even more so. Spent yesterday morning there
before going home totally exhausted having seen 52 species.
The highlights were:
- 3 Shining Bronze-cuckoos 'sorting themselves out' - a lot of flying
around, wing fluttering, calling, etc
- good views of a Little Grassbird and a Clamorous Reed-Warbler
- the wetland that had been dry for a long time and recently been deepened
was full of water. Not a large number of species there however
Hoary-headed Grebe, Wood & Pacific Black Duck and Hardheads were
seen. Also 5 Black-fronted Dotterels were 'sorting out'
territories
- a pair of Swamp Harriers flying over and around the wetland for a long
time
Cheers
