Approximately 450-500 Sarus Cranes in recently ploughed
cornfields along Forsythe Rd - and this literally on the eve of the annual
Tablelands Crane Count. Quite a large number I think. (Would anyone
involved in the Crane Count like to comment on just how significant this crane
If all these birds were together it represents the
aggregation of three flocks which usually use nearby or adjoining
If I leave this machine now I will just have time
to see if the Pratincoles are still there.
Jim and Marissa came on a nocturnal tour, OK but
not brilliant, and plan to join the crane count this afternoon. They are really
