No bronze-cuckoos yet ........
On Thursday at the
Back Paddock carpark, I heard a Horsfield's Bronze-cuckoo.
Also, whilst I'd stopped here for a quick
cuppa, Golden Whistler, Grey Fantail, Brown-headed Honeyeaters, Willie
Wagtail, Red-browed Finch. The honeyeaters gave excellent views whilst working
through some acacia.
Also on Thursday, while meandering around the back
roads of Yan Yean, I watched 5 Brown Thornbills playing around in a fork of
a eucalypt. The fork was approximately 15 metres from ground
level. When I got the binoculars on them, I realised that they were
actually bathing. The fork obviously held water and they were having a
great time. Certainly no worries about cats etc up there!
Yan Yean highlight: a pair of Great-crested Grebe
whilst in the paddocks along Dunnett's Road, Long-billed and Little
Corellas and Sulphur-crested Cockatoos.
