Gooday all,
Just seeking some assistance with an observation I had at Abhoo Landing, Prince
of Wales Is.
Torres Strait Qld.
A flock of 15 Bar-shouldered Doves were observed settled in a recently burnt
area. Some of
the grassy tufts were still smoldering so that gives an indication of how
recent the fire ocurred.
The birds did not seem to be feeding and I doubt any seed remained following
the fire.
My query is what created the interest for so many Doves to be concentrated in
the one area.
My thoughts are along the lines that they may utilise the ash to control
parasites?
If anyone can assist I would greatly appreciate comments. I have no access to
HANZAB up
here.
