There has been some new arrivals to the paddock on Beach Rd Avalon.

Yesterday, there were a total of 6 Adult Banded Lapwings, with 6 chicks. There were five adults with 3 chicks in one section, and a single adult with 3 chicks in the opposite corner.

I fear there was another adult that had been hit by a car. The single adult with 3 chicks was first seen 'on the road', calling desperately around a pile of  feathers on the road. It kept returning to this spot, as if to be looking for its partner.  The chicks kept to the drain, along the side of the road, occassionally running out onto the road.  Not a safe territory to choose for the safety of these new arrivals!

Some other updates around Geelong, Victoria:

* The Grey(white morph) Goshawk was down at Fyansford again today.

* The Speckled Warblers were seen again in the Brisbane Ranges on Loves Lane.
