Having no expertise at all re sea birds in general and gulls in particular,
I haven't been following the discussion of this apparently unusual gull.

But it has just occurred to me that this points to a great way of 'taking
the Manorina melanocephala' out of twitchers:  Gulls would be easily caught.
Are there any readily available dyes that would be effective on feathers and
beak, and not harmful to a living bird?

Has someone already thought of this, I wonder?
