Steve Clark's posting on the 'missing' woodland birds is likely to be an
indication that many Victorian woodland remnants now are too small,
disturbed, simplified or otherwise unsuitable to maintain woodland bird
species.

This situation has been formally recognised in Victoria and a 'Woodland
bird community' has been listed as a threatened community under the Flora
and Fauna Guarantee Act. A draft Action Statement (management plan) has
been commenced to address the conservation of woodland birds in the state
and other eastern states are also examining this issue I understand.

The information which lead to the listing of the community is available as
a short Recommendation Report. This is availablre from me for those
interested (either as hard copy or a pdf file). Contact me with an address
if you are interested.

cheers
