Yes Jill where have our waders gone.
The entrance at Lake Illawarra, about 150 km south of Sydney, had only 1 Bar-tailed Godwit today, Sunday. 30 Double-banded Plovers are a little down on normal. We have been noticing a steady drop off of B-t Gs of not only the summer population but also the over wintering ones that used to be about a dozen with 300 odd during the summer. I have noticed that the numbers at Comerong Island, about 80 km further south are also down. Waders like Curlew Sandpipers and Red-necked Stints are now a rarity around here when we used to get regularly in good numbers.
Cheers Chris
