 Peter, Andrew x2 and birding-ausers,

As a National Park Volunteer I drew the attention
of those on my guided walk to one of our endemic birds flying straight at us. No
sooner had I spoken than I was changing feet! It was a common enough, wide
spread species.

One of my guests does the same sort of volunteering
in the Jordan Valley and told me of Yoshy's Principle - if the bird is flying
towards you, say "Look, this might be a ...," but if it is going away (and
unlikely to turn back) you shout " There goes the rare endemic
....!"

He who has never been wrong, has never been
anything.

Regards,
Alan
