I have to admit that I hadn't thought of that.  But, what were the ducks picking from the surface?  The dam is at a low level.  It was 1% capacity in early April and is currently at 9%.  I'm not sure where this put's the depth of the outlet other than when it was at 1% they were talking about being very close to not being able to release water at all.  I'm guessing that the water (usually coming from the dark cold depths) is not as devoid of material as it might usually be.
