g'day all,
Have I missed the normal critical reviews of another Oz Field Guide ?

Yesterday I impulsed purchased at our local Book shop a copy of
Australian Birds .. a concise photographic field Guide
By Donald and Molly Trounson.
Price $34.95

The photos were taken by a large number of people and are well printed.
The binding is very heavy clear plastic and it is the first of the local guides to have a "short (quick) index
The photos are printed as a block at the front of the book with the text at the rear.
The cross reference system is easy to follow.

However even though it includes a Systematic Index of Orders and Families it did not include a Scientific Name Index

It is not really a Field Guide as it often shows only one sex and one plumage.

Even though we in Oz are well endowed with 4 major Field Guides, no doubt this book will have some information not in the others.

Regards,
Bob Forsyth, Mount Isa, NW Queensland.
