Hi All,
Was at the Western Treatment Plant, Werribee today (SW of
Melbourne) and saw a few interesting things.
Half a dozen white-browed woodswallows out and about, very
specky little birds
More exciting though is the number of Black Kites there at present.
At times had 5-6 birds circling overhead, in certain areas, more so
the north eastern ends of the farm, they are more common than
whistlers. They can also be viewed regularly when driving up and
down the highway for those among you who commute. A pair of
Black Kites is also once again breeding in the farm,although for
obvious reasons I won't say where.
Also, a pair of Black Falcons were in the mix today. Is suspect
that they also were/have bred, so unfortunately I can't give the
exact location out. However, anyone heading out to the farm should
keep an eye for these guys (as well as banded brown falcons
hopefully! ;)
