Magpie Geese and Cape Barren Geese are not ecologically 
comparable.  MG feed in the water and CBG graze on the land.  
Though MG have disappeared from the Geelong area, reintroductions 
have occurred and they're (VERY slowly) returning.  CBG are still 
abundant in various areas not far west of Geelong.  I don't think 
CG in NZ would have heard about the available real estate!
