Hi
Found you email address on the internet while trying to identify a bird by its nest and eggs.  No luck, but I hope you, whoever you are, kind person, may be able to help.
My neighbour, who lives close by the Editnvale wetlands in suburban Melbourne, found three eggs in a hollow on the ground (she said "dish-shaped").  She discovered them while weeding her raised vegie garden.  They are about half the size of a bantam's egg, and teal blue with dark blotches.  She tells me she hasn't noticed a bird there.  The garden has lizards, and two small resident dogs which will make short work of any chicks, I'm afraid.
Firstly, what do you think may have left the eggs there, and secondly, what's the best strategy?
Thanks for any help you can give.
Jennifer Glenister
