What about the number of birds, not species?

When I lived at Dajarra (south of Mt Isa) in the early 60s (1960s not
1860s - to stop Tony Russell's response), most weekend "lie ins" ended by
squinting out the window at hundreds (maybe millions - sounded like it) of
Galahs and Little Corellas. Occasionally, there were patches of ground
between the birds.

A quick rifle shot in the air (through the open window) changed the colour
of the sky and gave another 10 minutes of slumber.
