Recovering from my near obscene 4.30 a.m. start after the California Quail yesterday I went to bed early last night at 11.30 p.m. and had a lie-in till 7.15 this morning.
And then I realised I could see birds flying about outside , even though lying on my side and with only one eye open ( the RH one).
So, I starting counting species for the next ten minutes and I got, not in any particular order:

Rainbow Lorikeets, Musk Lorikeets, Little Ravens, Murray Magpies, White-backed Magpies, New Holland H/Es, Pacific Black Ducks, Wood Ducks, Striated Pardalote, Spotted Turtle-doves, Crested Pigeons, Noisy Miners (erk !), Blackbirds, Adelaide Rosellas, Eastern Rosellas, and Galahs.

Which I make about sixteen, not bad for one eye in ten minutes.

Anyone care to take up the challenge ? Don't forget, you must be in bed looking out of the window lying on your side and using only one eye - for ten minutes. You can use either eye but not two.

Off you go.

Anton.
