Has anyone mentioned inter-specific, or for that matter intra-specific,
competition for food as a possible competitive advantage of the knob on
Noisy Friarbirds bills? Do these birds fight?
Is the knob solid or hollow?.If hollow it would add resonance to the
birds' vocalisations.
Noisy FBs range overlaps with Little FBs, also bald; perhaps the knob is a
distinguishing feature between the species.
                         Cheers
                           Michael
