If you think we're cold you should look at Oberon, always two degrees colder than us. Orange is about 860 metres above sea level, the same height as Wentworth Falls in the Blue Mountains so maybe that helps. Actually Orange has been much warmer the last two years than previously. This year we've only had one snowfall which never even settled. Being only a resident since January I'm still uncertain of weather patterns though a pilot friend of mine reckons the temperature actually drops about 10 degrees as he approaches Orange in his light aircraft. Still it seems to mess the birds around here a bit, our spring arrivals appear to arrive here a couple of months later than everywhere else from what I've heard.
