Hi Birders,
Despite any rumours about the Cooneys heading north to Cairns
(mainly perpetuated by me!), we are going to spend a couple of weeks at Flinders
Ranges, north, true, but not so far north. We'll be leaving on the 13th of
July and stay the first week at Wilpena Pound and then maybe strike out after
that for another week of bush camping.
On the way we thought we might break the trip at Bool Lagoon,
but a quick scan of the Birding Aus archive suggests that this may not be such a
good idea, as of July last year. Can anyone inform me of the current
situation or recommend other sites in the vicinity for non-powered camper
van accommodation?
Also, if anyone has any good Flinders Ranges info neatly
zipped away in the back of their PC I'd love to see that as well.
Finally, if the rigours of camping with a seven month old,
(who first crawled yesterday in front of grandparents, while mum and dad were
out earning the (figurative) big bickies!) have not proved too much, we will
head out again on the 10th of August (give or take) in an easterly direction to
Murramarang NP or Mimosa Rocks NP in NSW, neither of which feature heavily in
the archives. Do the wise birders of Birding Aus have sage advice on
birding and camping along the Sapphire Coast.
Once again, I am sure that I will receive lots of informed and
really useful info in reply to my requests (and probably a few corrections of
grammar and spelling), and I thank you in advance for that (and will thank you
individually as well, of course!).
Regards
Stuart
