BAYBOCA had a very enjoyable weekend at Manfred Ruff's property near Nagambie,
adjacent to Mount Black. The weather was superb with warm sunny days and a
little fog in the cold mornings. The property has some box-ironbark woodland
with wonderful grass trees, as well as extensive areas of cassinia - a
favourite haunt of Gilbert's Whistler and White-browed Babbler. The group
recorded a total of 63 species with highlights being (in addition to the two
already named) Australian Owlet-nightjar, Wedge-tailed Eagle, Brown Goshawk,
Speckled Warbler, Flame, Scarlet, Red-capped, Hooded and Eastern Yellow Robins,
Southern Whiteface, Singing Honeyeater, Varied Sittella, White-bellied
Cuckoo-shrike, Diamond Firetail and Tree Martin. The full list follows.
