Hunting greenwash

The recent increase in massacres of protected birds is a blatant example of the government?s and Opposition?s lack of commitment to protect birds from the hunting lobby.

The police need more resources in order to step up the fight against illegal hunting. However, both the Nationalist and Labour parties prefer to give in to the hunters and the end result is an increase in massacres.

The lack of commitment of the PN and MLP confirms that their rhetoric in favour of environmental protection is nothing but greenwash.

Alternattiva Demokratika fully supports the police, BirdLife Malta and Nature Trust in their efforts to curb illegal hunting. We insist that Malta should immediately conform to the Berne Convention and to the EU Birds and Habitats Directive. This would result in the total abolition of hunting in spring.
