Yesterday while birding in Cox Scrub Conservation Park (about 40 km South of
Adelaide) I clearly heard a Crested Bellbird calling.

At the time it puzzled me a little but then forgot about it until I reached
home and had time to think about the day's observations. My search in the
various guides etc shows that this species is not normally seen in the
Adelaide Hills; one is more likely to see it out in the mallee and dryer
areas of SA.

Have other observers seen or heard this species in the Adelaide Hills/Mt.
Lofty Ranges and in Cox Scrub conservation park in particular?

Nothing much of interest was observed in the park with very little
flowering. New Holland Honeyeaters were common and I had excellent views of
several male Golden Whistlers. I also had close up views of Striated

Happy birding,

Trevor Hampel
