GAME BILL MADNESS

Laurie is partly correct when he says "Fifty percent representation on a
council is pretty high for an interest group. In the corporate world, I
suspect you only need to have 30-40% to have a controlling interest in many
companies."

However, government committees and councils operate on a different level
with the Minister and Parliament having the final veto. This is why a fifty
percent representation is not unusual. I was actually on a government
committee where the interest groups had 80% of the members but a large
number of our "suggestions" did not make it.

I still want to know if this is a new bill or what. The links only show us
the Game Bill 2001 while Lorne's email mentioned Game Bill 2002. If it is a
new bill, where can we read it? If it is not, why is there such a fuss over
a bill that has lapsed.

Aren't politicians wonderful?
