Hi everyone,
Following Alan Leishman's advice re. 3 Freckled Ducks we decided to visit
Mount Annan Botanic Garden (which is between Campbelltoewn & Camden south
west of Sydney - access off the F5 Freeway - tourist drive 18 and open from
10.00 am). We found 4 Freckled Ducks on Lake Fitzpatrick, standing on a
bare lake edge, along with 5 other species of duck. They were not in the
least bit shy! must have settled into the lovely atmosphere quickly!
The Botanic Garden is beautifully set out, many picnic areas, barbecues,
toilet blocks and well sign posted walking trails. As Alan said it is a
good place to go to do some bird watching in the western Sydney area, we saw
60 species, other highlights were 2 Yellow-billed Spoonbills, Brown Falcon
hunting, Brown Goshawk, Varied Sittellas, and a pair of Restless
Flycatchers. Judi & Neil Russill
