Magpie mimicry

I was amazed, a couple of days ago, to hear a new item in "our" magpie's repertoire. The bird is hand reared and 18 month-old (female, I think) and now only rarely does her telephone and ambulence siren imitations but this latest one was a distinct, human "Hello!", in exactly the tone that I use for her, a possum, the dog and, probably, visitors to our plant nursery! I find this particularly interesting because I thought a bird of her age would have stopped adding to its vocal range. Just goes to show....
Cheers
Anne
