I have identified the bird as a juvenille Red-capped Robin Petroica goodenovii. This species is known to occur in a nature reserve at Noranda Open Space (Van Deflt, 1999 - "Birding Sites around Perth"),  5km west of where I the photograph was taken, so it may be posible that the juvenille came from this area.

Any confirmations or other suggestions on species identification?
