Hello all,
I have had a few enquiries re the SIPO (South Island Pied Oystercatcher) at
Clontarf/Woody Point, SE Queensland.

Unfortunately, the SIPO seems to be making itself less conspicuous these days,
In spite of regular inspections of the usual locations I have only seen it once
since 4/9/01.
That was on 3/11/01 at Pelican Park.
I have had a report from Florence and David Redhead that they observed it at
Crockatt Park, Woody Point, on 11/11/01.
I have visited that spot several times since but have had no luck.

The numbers of Pied Oystercatchers did seem to drop off for a while but now
appear to be building up again, 40+ last visit to Crockatt Park.

I will endeavour to continue to monitor the SIPO sights and will report any
sightings.

Other interesting sightings from the same area indicate that the Little and
Common Terns are returning.

Cheers
Bob Inglis
