Backyard invasion by Channel-billed Cuckoos

At about 6am there was a great disturbance in the backyard (North Cremorne,
NSW) with four  Channel-billed Cuckoos flying around, calling and sometimes
landing on a tall Angorphora costata.

These birds were on their own, and were not being chased by mobs of smaller
birds like Noisy Miners and Currawongs.

Could this be a mating scene or just birds having fun ?  Anyone else
experience this ?
