ABRS (part of Environment Australia that supposedly maintains fauna and flora names for Australia) has it as Vulpes vulpes still. They're website is http://www.environment.gov.au/abrs/abif-fauna/ and has potential to be very useful (if it is ever fully updated). By "Menkhorst" are you referring to Mammals of Victoria or the new Menkhorst and Knight book?
Cheers,
Peter

Hi All,

Sorry to ask an off topic question; I'll keep it short.

What is the binomial name for the fox?

Strahan says Vulpes vulpes
Menkhorst says Canis vulpes

Any help appreciated,

Stuart
