Hi Steve,

Sorry to do this to you - I was there on Sunday (Swan Island golf course,
Queenscliff, Vic) the day after you, and saw several in the heath - the give
away being the metallic zizizizizizizi. I also noticed the Blue-wings, which as
you mentioned, stuck mainly to the fairway. It was loverly and sunny when I was
there, so I wonder if this made a difference? There were also tons of
White-fronted Chat, and some wonderfully calling Spiny-cheeked Honeyeaters.

(I also have a confession to make - I hadn't organised a pass, so I pretended
to be a golfer to get across the bridge. What' the etiquette about this? I can
think of the number of issues, but is it really a problem?)

All the best,

Tim

G'day all,

My (non-birding) wife and I spent a couple of hours in the rain, dodging golf
balls on the Swan Island golf course (Queenscliff, Port Phillip Bay, Victoria)
on Saturday. Our hopes were high for the OBP's because the chap in the Pro Shop
told us that Jon Starks had seen several the day before. We thoroughly checked
the suggested 7th and 8th fairways and found two groups of Blue-winged Parrots.
Try as I might I couldn't turn any of them into OBP's. We wandered to other
parts of the course without success then had another check on the Blue-wings but
they still wouldn't cooperate.

So, OBP's are still on my yet to see list.

Cheers

Steve
