 Hi again

This was definitely a first for me. Had really good
views of the Australasian Bittern that has been seen recently on Ash Island,
Newcastle. Watched it for about 2 minutes, from the car. It "froze", wandered
through the fairly open water, froze again and then finally flew off. I managed
to get some reasonable video footage even if it was a bit shaky. Probably a
combination of excitement and filming through a dirty windscreen trying to
focus. As is often the case, the bird books don't seem to do the colours
justice. It was quiet striking in its black streaking and the buff portions
seemed almost yellow in colour. It was 9 A.M. and the lighting was good. Other
highlights included a male Musk Duck, a few Australasian Shoveller and several
Red necked Avocets.

Cheers
