Gooday all,
Had a visit and count at Mullers Lagoon, Bowen this arvo and located 3
Cotton Pygmy Geese on the Lagoon. Two females and a male, they being a new
species for the Mullers Lagoon birdlist.
I have been carrying out observations to the Lagoon since 1984 so was
thrilled to find these birds.
Currently we also have a pair of Black Swans with 5 cygnets. The cygnets are
still coloured grey and are about a third of the size of the adults. Late
last year there was quite a controversy about the water quality and growth
of surface weed at Mullers. Judging by the population of birds there and
breeding at the present time all seems to be ecologically OK with the site.
