Hi All,

A question, stemming from our sighting a couple of weeks ago on the
Caloundra sandbanks, SEQ. Seeing a Lesser Crested Tern was not such a
surprise, as they do turn up from time to time. But this one was in almost
full breeding plumage in early July. There were just a couple of white
feathers at the front of the black cap. I finally remembered to look in
HANZAB, and found that I was correct to be surprised, as they don't start
breeding for some time yet.

Can anyone further north in Qld comment on the current plumages of Lesser
Crested which they are seeing?
