G'day Jack and others,

Was interesting to hear that Bell Miners were recently seen near Harcourt,
central Victoria.

The only other records of I know of were a few birds that I observed back in
June 1991 in suburban East Bendigo, and a single bird at Strathfieldsaye (10 km
south of Bendigo) in December 1991 [for published reference, see Aust.
Birdwatcher, Vol. 14 (7)]. There was also a sighting at Myers Flat (10 km north
of Bendigo) in March 1991.

According to the Atlas of Vic. Birds, the only other 'vagrant' records are from
Broadford (1984-1985), Nagambie (1980) and Bacchus Marsh (1984).

I hope they never establish themselves here!! We have our share of Noisy
Miners.

Cheers,

Chris Tzaros
