Hello BirdingAus-ers,

Today, 9/05/01, I joined a fairly exclusive club: The 3 Oystercatcher Club.
I did this by seeing the three oystercatchers on the current Australian Bird
List together at the same roost at Pelican Park, Clontarf, Queensland,
Australia.
(I know I'm not the only member of this club but I wonder who the other members
are?)

There was one South Island Pied Oystercatcher, Haematopus finschi, one Sooty
Oystercatcher, H. fuliginosus, and about 25 Pied Oystercatchers, H.
longirostris.

They were all resting on the rock-wall at the boat-ramp at Pelican Park, the
most reliable spot for seeing the South Island Pied Oystercatcher (in Australia)
at the moment.

This is the second time I have seen a Sooty Oystercatcher in that area in the
past few months.

I will be posting some images of the three birds on a web-page in the near
future.
