Hi All,

spent most of today birding in the Windsor region of western Sydney. Visited Mitchell Park, McGraths Hill STW, Pitt Town & Powells Lagoons. Highlights were:

5 Glossy Ibis, 1 Little Eagle (light morph) at Pitt Town Lagoon

18 Zebra Finch & a flock of 200+ Little Corella (also a couple of smaller flocks - about 12 each of Long-billed Corella) near Powells Lagoon

Have these numbers of Corellas been in the area for some time?? I have noticed that Little Corella populations in the Royal NP seem to be increasing & this seems true of Long-billed Corellas in the Stanwell Park region as well.

I think it was Keith Brandwood who issued a challenge to the younger birders to try & beat his 13 raptor species in one day. I have to admit defeat here Keith, as we could only find 8 species today!! - Brown Falcon, Aust Kestrel, Aust Hobby, Peregrine Falcon, Black-shouldered Kite, Little Eagle, White-bellied Sea Eagle & Whistling Kite.

A total of 101 species for the day.

regards
