The Australian Bustard is abundant on Sweers Island (70km
north of Burketown, Qld)
At least 2 of them wander around the Resort buildings
most of the time. They can be approached within a couple of
metres.
I saw Bustards regularly as I wandered around the Island.
Before we flew out one of the resort owners drove along the strip to ensure it
was clear of them. The pilot said he had often flushed them as he flew
over the grasses on the eastern side of the Island.
2 adult and 4 fully grown offspring BSc wander
through and around the dining tables also most of the time.
