Beautiful Firetails

I have just returned from a bushwalk ... most definitely not a birding
outing as we covered 35km in the day over 7 hours ... but in transit between
Otford and Waterfall, Royal National Park, along the heath section of the
Wallamurra Track on the plateau, I found a pair of most confiding Beautiful
Firetails in the middle of the path. They were nibbling grass stalks and
appeared most unconcerned by our presence. They have never been common for
me in my time of walking and birding in the Park so I wanted all to note
their existence. They were more common prior to the 1994 fires so perhaps
this is a good sign. Or maybe a lucky timing of visitation by both of us.
