Red-tailed Black Cockatoos turned up at Abberton a few days ago. They're
still here this-afternoon, roaming the local area in search of the fruit of
White Cedar trees.

Last year they arrived in the last week of January, and stayed, on and off,
right through late summer and autumn, even into winter.

This year, although I've heard them around, I didn't manage to see them
until today when we heard them crying out as they approached and then flew
over the house - causing it to empty on to the verandahs in an instant.

Just five big, beautiful birds, swimming through the afternoon sky.

Usually their numbers build up over the next few weeks. I'll keep you
posted.
