Dear bird chatters

I live on a property near Broome WA and I once
volunteered to help some local people with cannon
netting the waders. It was very unpleasant for the
birds and some were killed and injured. The birders
seemed very pleased with their efforts. I was very
upset but nobody else in the group seemed too worried
about the birds. They even said that when things go
wrong it is much worse. Although I don't know how many
birds were killed or injured, Im horrified to read
that a 4% death rate is considered normal. Cannon
netting is most inhumane and should be banned.
