Do any of you have up to date information on the Port Fairy Painted Snipe?

The last I heard was the report on the Victorian Birdline before Christmas.

Three of us tried and dipped in early January, I think Wed 3rd. The spot is easy to find from directions in earlier posts. We didn't go into the paddock for the reasons people have already mentioned - it does appear to be private land and we wanted to avoid disturbing them, particularly if they might be breeding. We had a good look with a scope without success.

The Crags down the end of the road are worth a look and there was a Nankeen Kestrel nesting in a hollow in the cliff face there.

Cheers
