Hi Laurence, Leanne et al.
Just to say I've seen Partridge pigeon on the dirt road between
Berry Springs and Middle Arm, probably no more than 10 kilometers
south of the Channel Island-Palmerston Road, so I don't think your
sighting is unlikely.
I spent Christmas in Adelaide and managed a trip out to Inness
National Park at the tip of the Yorke penisula, which proved to be a
very pleasant spot, despite the constant wind and very friendly flies,
and I spotted a few goodies including malleefowl and shy hylacola
on the walking track that starts just west of the shop/pub. There were
plenty of purple-gaped honeyeaters, rock parrots and southern
scrub-robins at various places I visited but I didn't hear or see any
western Whipbirds - wrong time of year I guess? However, the site
of a pod of 12 dolphins herding a foaming shoal of fish into the
shallows at Ethel Wreck was hard to beat.
