Just back from the 4 day trip to Cape York
staying at Pajinka Lodge.
Weather was variable from sunny to pelting down but it didn't
stop the group from getting most of the target species.
Highlights were;
Papuan Frogmouth (the large pale northern form) on a nest in
the grounds of the lodge.
Yellow-billed Kingfisher at nesting hollow.
Palm Cockatoo also at nesting hollow.
Red-bellied Pitta difficult to locate high in trees but easy
to see once pin-pointed as they call constantly from their vantage point. Lots
of others heard.
Marbled Frogmouth.
Buff-breasted P-Kingfisher everywhere.
Noisy Pitta also everywhere but difficult to see.
And to everyone's relief, NO leeches or ticks!!! They don't
exist on the northern Cape because of the long dry periods.
