I have taken all my young kids birding ...both formal BOCA outings and family bird related trips .They love it .All we can do is sow the seeds.
My eldest, Billy(9), is now sport crazy but still loves birds and the natural environment generally. He no longer attends outings with BOCA preferring to sleep in,but his younger sister comes ...between them, they can name 50 plus different species.Sure ,it's not necessarily "cool"as far as they are concerned but they learn and they love camping and being out in the bush.Sally(6) complained last time we camped out at Granite Ck (central Qld) that the Large-tailed Nightjars keep her awake with their chop chopping ...I just smiled !!!
Bill.
