The suggestion that we should have cards like the ?Pokemon character struck a chord with me. Why don't we ask Dick Smith to put a series of common bird cards in his products so that kids will start a collection of cards which may well generate an interest in the birds. Years ago there were books available to go with the cards of Prime Ministers, Sports people etc. and the cards were stuck in the appropriate places where basic information was given. Now I don't think PMs would go down too well these days but perhaps birds would and it would encourage kids to take a closed look at the local birds.
