Hi Birders,
I have been following the comments about the apparent damage that blackbirds do in urban gardens in Victoria, like digging up the plants!! Compared to what damage Brush Turkeys to to urban gardens here on the Central Coast, particularly in the Gosford Local Government area, those melbourne gardeners should be pretty thankjful that you don't have Brush Turkeys yet!

As to Blackbirds in nSW, they seem to be everywhere in urban environments in NSw except for the Central, Mid-north and North Coast Regions. You can find them in Bourke, Broken Hill, Menindee, Bathurst, Orange, Hillston, Wagga etc. They are currently invading the orchards and gardens of the Somersby Plateau west of Gosford, as they start heasding north up the coast. They occur away from towns in sand dune scrub around the Menindee Lakes as well as in the beach dunes on the far South Coast.
